Dying like flies while searching for “god”

Officials say 102 pilgrims have been killed in a stampede at a religious festival in the southern Indian state of Kerala.

More than 100 people perished in this crowded religious place in India when their "god" did not let them find an exit

At least 44 more have been injured in the crush, which was reportedly triggered by a road accident.

The pilgrims were returning from the Hindu shrine of Sabarimala, which is in a remote, mountainous, densely-forested area. The stampede happened at Pulmedu, near the town of Vandiperiyar in Idukki district, Indian media reported.

The Hindus came to worship this idol, and perished.

Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims had gathered at the hill shrine on Friday.

This was the last day of an annual festival.

The festival runs for two months and attracts millions of visitors every year. Reports differed as to exactly how the deadly crush was triggered.

The Indian PTI news agency said a jeep carrying pilgrims had driven into a crowd returning from the shrine, starting a panic.

However, the Times of India reported that the incident happened when the jeep broke down and overturned as pilgrims tried to move it.

It crushed a number of people and caused others to stumble, which then triggered the stampede, the report said.

My comment:

The Bible says worshipers of idol make them selves worthless in the eyes of the living God.

Psalm 31:6
I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I trust in the LORD

Jeremiah 10:8
They are all senseless and foolish; they are taught by worthless wooden idols.

Jeremiah 51:18
They are worthless, the objects of mockery; when their judgment comes, they will perish.

Romans 3:12
All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

This tragedy in India, is a fruit of thousands of years of rejection of the Word of God. The Hindus will go on clinging to their idols, a path that leads them down into the abyss and the fire of Hell.

The living God and Master Jesus is the only one who can save them. But they refuse to listen to Him.

  1. Ivar,

The article reminds of the tsunami that hit Indonesia a few years ago. Thousands upon thousands of deaths, and I saw an interview where one woman had a cup of milk, and she was quoted saying; “We must apease the sea gods for they are quite upset.”

I was heartbroken to hear that from her. I would’ve rather her cried out to Christ, and repented on the spot. While there is till breath in your longs, and judgment day has not come yet, there is still a chance these souls can accept the Only Savior: Jesus Christ.

    God Bless.

    1. Dear Gloria.

      Shalom.

All prophetic blogger’s can easily get overworked. The end time signs all over the Planet, now take place in hundreds every day. The global hailing of the last and final anti-Christ is imminent. He is already walking on Earth….

  2. @Ivar – I doubt if you will have the courage to approve and present the point of view I make .. If you do then you shall earn a little respect that I now don’t see you deserving. If the occurrence of a calamity is evidence of god’s wrath how would you account for all the protestant churches that were struck by lightning and burned down? How would you account for all the protestants that died in earthquakes? How would you account for all the children born to protestants that drowned in the Tsunami? Was god killing the children even before they were adult enough to commit sin?

“The spire of St. Bride’s Church in London was greatly injured by lightning in 1750, and in 1764 a storm so wrecked its masonry that it had to be mainly rebuilt; yet for years after this the authorities refused to attach a lightning-rod. The Protestant Cathedral of St. Paul’s, in London, was not protected until sixteen years after Franklin’s discovery, and the tower of the great Protestant church at Hamburg not until a year later still. As late as 1783 it was declared in Germany, on excellent authority, that within a space of thirty-three years nearly four hundred towers had been damaged and one hundred and twenty bell-ringers killed.” – (Source: http://physics.info/charge/)

Isn’t all this a natural occurrence and aren’t you being cheap and evil by trying to use misfortunes to forward your illogical belief? Idol worship or not, religious belief is itself stupid. The problem with you as is the problem with all believers of every faith is that you will look for ways and incidents that support your belief. If you dig and enquire properly you will know that your belief is no less stupid.

    1. Dear Adithya

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

      My reply:

Since your are a non believer in Jesus the Messiah, I can not expect you to understand the meaning of the word “Church”. The church is not a concrete building, but made of living stones. Even if the entire Vatican would be completely destroyed by a disaster today, Jesus will still be the King of Kings.

The gates of Hell shall not prevail against the Church, the true body of Jesus the Messiah. He still have millions of faithful followers all over the Globe.

      1. Fair enough.. that is a response to one question out of the many that I asked.. lets leave the building out of the way. Please help me account for the children who were killed by the Tsunami that you so held up as being the wrath of god.

That there are millions deluded followers for a 2000 year old preacher concludes nothing. If it is a show of strength a younger mohammed is gaining more popularity and islam is taking over. Millions can be stupid as has been shown throughout history.

I question your rationale. On what grounds do you think your faith is better? You are the same as I am when it comes to all the other religions around the world just that you think your faith alone is true.. I think your faith is also stupid. Fair enough?

      2. Dear Adithya

        Shalom.

        You asked:

I question your rationale. On what grounds do you think your faith is better?

        My reply:

        Look at the fruits.

Who many democracies are there in the Muslim World?

What is the infant morality rates?

What is the average literacy rate?

You can make the list as long as you wish.

Than compare it to the reformed Christian World. You do not have to be a genius to see the difference.

God of the Bible said: Those who love me, I will bless in thousands of generations.

      3. Dear Adithya

        Shalom.

You asked why some of your comments are not to be found on this blog.

The answer is very simple. I am the editor, and I am still considering publishing your comments. You use filthy language, and I am not sure I would like you to continue.

  3. Ivar you are suffering from a confirmation bias. Oil is found in most muslim countries so does that mean that Allah is more powerful than Jesus? No, its just geography. But you are merely trying to count the hits while ignoring the misses.

People die in stampede because of the sheer numbers and poor safety standards. It has nothing to do with which god you worship. All gods are imaginary including your santa claus for grown ups – Jesus Christ. Time to grow up Ivar.

    1. Indianspark,

Your Comment: All gods are imaginary including your santa claus for grown ups – Jesus Christ.

My Comment: The Word of God is clear.

Mark 16:16 He who Believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disBelieves will be condemned.

The Coming of Christ is near. One would only have to look at what is going on around the world, and compare it to Christ’s word for the truth.

      Gloria

      1. @Gloria – By all measure the world is a far better place than it was during the ages of our grandfathers. There is also better media coverage because of which people feel there is more mayhem now.. but truth is we are living in better times than ever before in human history.

On the ‘word of god’ .. you are bound to feel that. You never doubted the bible. You can quote passages after passages but what is the guarantee it has any significance. How much do you know about the history of the bible? I bet none, for if you did you wouldn’t flaunt it 🙂

      2. Dear Adithya

        Shalom.

I have made up my mind. This is not a Bollywood website, for talk about trash. You are free do reject the Bible, and its pointless to keep this debate going. Let me warn you about rejecting the only God who has paid for your sins. Without faith in Jesus the Messiah you will have to spend eternity in Hell. Either you believe this or not.

      3. @Gloria – I’m sure you are itching to classify me as the devil but that would just be brushing your problems under the carpet. Remember, ignorance is bliss but its not the truth 🙂

      4. Adithya,

Your comment: By all measure the world is a far better place than it was during the ages of our grandfathers.

My Comment: 2 Timothy 3:2 reads For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

This sinful world is not “better” than anything. When Jesus comes though, judgment will commence on those who refuse to accept him.

Your Comment: How much do you know about the history of the bible? I bet none, for if you did you wouldn’t flaunt it

My Comment: I know God and his Word. Nothing in this world compares to the love Christ has for me. And for you too.

        Repent, before it’s too late.

        God Bless.

  4. Gloria you are just making an assertion without any basis or evidence. You should seriously consider getting your information from more than one fairy tale book called the Bible. I am always amazed how people like you are so blinded by faith and refuse to use your thinking. Ivar’s posts above are full of fallacies. You people are religious bigots trying to use every opportunity to convert people to christianity.

    1. Indianspark,

Your comment: Gloria you are just making an assertion without any basis or evidence.

My Comment: Ephesians 2:8 says: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–

I’ve been saved, because Christ died for my sins and resurrected.

With all due respect Indianspark, we can debate without the name calling.

I first truly realized Christ was with me when I was 8 years of age. He’s never left my side, and time and time again, he’s showed me how much he’s loved me.

He loves you too. You just need to pick up his Word and read it. Repent from your sins, Indianspark. Hell is not a place anyone wants to spend for eternity.

      Gloria

  5. Gloria so you stopped thinking rationally about your imaginary friend since age eight. Quoting a book of stories is not evidence that any of it really happened.

I can quote from Harry Potter and claim that as evidence too !

How can somebody die for your sins before you were born? And dying for some one else’s sins is morbid don;t you think?

Ivar and your views are perfect examples of religious bigotry.

    1. Dear Indianspark.

      Shalom.

You are allowed to have your own opinions. I hope you live in a free and democratic nation, so you also are allowed to express them.

On News That Matters, we only allow truth-seekers to continue debating with us. Truth-mockers are told to go some were else. So now you chose. Chose wisely.

      1. Indianspark,

I agree with Ivar. Either you debate reasonably, or go somewhere else. Do not twist my words around.

Christ has been with me since I was young. All Glory goes to him, because I’ve been in his presence, and I’ve felt the love he has for me.

Denial and mockery will only lead you into a wide gate that’ll take you into eternity. You don’t have to go there.

  6. yes certainly Ivar, I live in a democratic country and I am allowed to have my own opinion. But I am sensing a sort of dictatorship on your part now.

So what you are saying is “do not question my truth as I cannot defend it” or “tow my line or get lost”. Is that a Christian position? Intolerance? Don’t you think you should be confident enough to defend your faith and answer my comments instead of threatening to delete them?

  7. Ivar that photograph you have here is not that of the idol that is worshipped at that temple. Not that it matters but just so that you know. Cheers.

    1. Dear Indianspark.

      Shalom.

You said I am a “Christian bigot”. Did I kill the Hindu souls, who perished searching for god in mute idols?

Jesus said: “Love your enemies”. He never gave anyone permission to harm a single human being. So a true follower of Jesus, can never be a bigot.

You have to understand, that not all who claim to be “Christians” are followers of the true faith in the Messiah.

  8. Ivar A bigot means you are intolerant and in this case of faiths other than yours. I did not call you a murderer. What you have done is to take an unfortunate incident which happened because of too many irrational people in one area and a total lack of safety standards and use it to claim that this happened because they don’t follow your personal god. I am a humanist so I am not picking on any one faith. They are all equally irrational. You are an atheist when it comes to another religion too if you think about it Ivar. This claim that you are making on this website about your faith being the true faith is what all religions make. There are Abrahamic faiths ( Judaism, Christianity & Islam) and many other polytheistic and older pagan faiths all based on irrational subjective thought and experience. Not a shred of evidence for any of the supernatural stories. Open your mind and think about it.

    1. Dear Indianspark

      Shalom

      You wrote:

There are Abrahamic faiths ( Judaism, Christianity & Islam)

      My reply:

Surely. And the Abrahamic faith was in the coming Messiah. He saw His day, and rejoiced. Islam rejects that there is a Messiah God in Heaven, that came to Earth 2.000 years ago. Millions of Jews still search for him. The rest of the World do not search for anything, among those who believe God is found in mute idols.

  9. Ivar you need to back what you say about the coming of messiah with empirical evidence. Its simply not good enough to keep quoting from one book from primitive times and assert that its the only truth. That is just blind faith and it makes you no different from people who believe in other such supernatural ideas.

    1. Dear Indianpark.

      Shalom.

      ….empirical evidence?

Look into your own heart, and see if there is anything good there. If all its rotten because of sin, you need to be saved.

    2. Indianspark,

Ivar is saved. I’m saved. Many others are saved and have a close relationship with Christ.

It is you who needs to seek the truth, before it’s too late.

John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.

  10. Many want to reject the Bible as the authority, they want to go by man’s opinion of history. This will never get them far, as man can write whatever they want to write, but God will not lie. God cannot lie. God is true, righteous, and just. He gave the truth, and offers it freely to mankind. Many have rejected, and will continue to reject Him, and His Son. Jesus is the long awaited Messiah. I hope and pray Israel returns to God, and accepts their Messiah. I would love to see every person in the world accept Christ. Not because I hate the thought of someone being from another religion than me, but because I hate the thought of any person being in Hell. But God gave each person, whether Israelite, Ishmaelite, French, German, English, Irish, Scottish, American, Catholic, Baptist, Mennonite, Amish, you name it, they all have a free will. God, through His Son, said there is only one way to Heaven, Jesus. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” Acts 16:31
I praise the Lord for Ivar, and this blog. I found it when searching out flies, when I was dealing with an issue with some. I have been greatly blessed to see his stand on this blog.

  11. Dear brothers and sisters.. I hail from Kerala, India.. where this temple is located and this incident occurred.. “As the different streams having their sources in different places all mingle their water in the sea, so, O Lord, the different paths which men take through different tendencies, various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to Thee” .. Please do not judge me or my path.. As I don’t judge you and your path.. and neither does god.. May peace prevail in this world.

  12. I hope I don’t hurt anyone by my words or opinion.. I do believe that you are right Ivar.. about god, about Jesus.. I’m sure you are 100% correct. I also believe that Muhammad is a prophet of God.. I do believe in Buddha..I do believe in the Sanathana philosophy that god is the atoms and particles that make this universe.. Isn’t that possible? Can’t I just agree with everyone ? Can’t i just bask in the peace that it brings? Can’t I just stand in the warm embrace of this realisation..loving everyone as they are..without manipulating them into agreement??

    1. vSk.

      Shalom.

      My reply:

You need to hear the gospel. Man is a cursed being. His life is full of sins, hypocrisy, white lies, double standards and love of money. There is no way he can avoid being trashed by a Holy and just God, who live in a sin-free-zone in the Kingdom of Heaven. All man have sinned, and the wages of sin is death. All men are on their way to Hell, without any exception. Regardless if they are Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Jews or Christians. ALL.

There is only one solution, and that solution was provided by God Almighty in Heaven. He sent his only begotten Son, the Messiah. He became the Lamb of God, and paid the perfect atonement for sins. He died on the cross in Jerusalem 2.000 years ago, and defeated sin in your life, Satan and death. If you do not surrender to and obey the Son of God, you will surely perish. Together with hundreds of millions of people, who feel they will be able to enter Heaven without being washed by the blood of Jesus of Nazareth, the blood He shed on the cross.

Jesus is the way, truth and life. NO ONE, absolutely no human being, will be able to come to Father God in Heaven but through faith in the Son.

So now, you be wise. Chose life.

  13. Vsk,

Give your life to Jesus. Your life will never be the same again. Ivar speaks the truth.

All other ‘gods’ are false. There is only ONE. Jesus the Messiah can set you free. Hallelujah… Why reach for idols when you can have the one true LIVING GOD ?.

  14. Dear sir,

Before writing anything ill about any religion. May I request you to read and understand what Sabarimalai pilgrimage means. Why devotees irrespective of their religion, caste & creed visit the temple after facing so many odds. I think you should research before you write anything ill and incorrect about any religion in the world. If at all you get an opportunity. please read and understand the meaning of the sanskrit word “Tatvamasi”. Lets talk after that.

Religion is like a tasty fruit. Its good to have one. You should share it with your family and friends but you should never belittle anyone saying that your fruit is bigger than theirs. After all, the almighty created fruits for us to eat and kill our hunger. Not to flaunt it and tell fellow humans that mine is bigger than yours.

While I completely respect Christianity and its teachings, lets not forget that the world will be a better place if we live in peace and make it even better together. A religion is a pathway shown by the almighty using which we can be a better human being by doing right deeds and follow his teachings. Lets not belittle any other religion and be happy with ours.

  15. He was divorced a few years in the past and was a “good guy” all of the years I knew him- lol- and no we did not date maybe because I had
    a thing for unhealthy boys.
