Reinhard Bonnke: “Jesus will jump out of the TV and touch you”

The German TV-evangelist claims Jesus will jump out of my TV Screen.

Reinhard Bonnke serves a "jumping Jesus", that will bring a phantom end time revival.

I saw the German TV-evangelist on God.tv on 30.12.10.  He was promoting his ‘Full Flames” series. I have always been puzzled with Bonnke’s faith in a gross end time revival, that will bring the continent of Africa into faith in Jesus Christ.

Lets read the quote from the magazine Christianity Today:

A vision for African missions haunted Bonnke from an early age. “Night after night I saw the entire African continent, washed in the blood of Jesus, country after country,” says Bonnke, son of a German Pentecostal preacher.

Source: Christianity Today.

But is this a true vision from Jesus the Messiah?

Matthew 7:14
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Luke 18:8
I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Bonnke speaks about “country” after “country”. Where does He have Biblical support for being a prophet of Africa’s national salvation?

Bonnke might be a self proclaimed prophet of his own imagination. Because the last days will be known for massive deception, and a revival around the coming of the last anti-Messiah, a lawless man.

That Bonnke asks his listeners to fill up response cards, is well and good. He claims to have collected such cards in hundreds of thousands.

I do not ask for such written response. I ask people who wants to accept Jesus as Master, if they would like to read the Bible. A positive response  to such a request is a good sign. If they still read the Bible after a month, and have joined a Christian fellowship, it is a pretty good sign of a genuine born again experience.

The problem with TV-evangelists, is that many claimed to be conversions can not be verified 4 weeks after the preacher has left the stage. Many Christian fellowships in the neighborhood never saw a single soul from this claimed to be “revival”. Few new Churches have been formed, hardly any Bibles have been distributed.

And if hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Nigeria return to their Mosques and their Korans after being “saved” at the stage of Reinhard Bonnke, He is at best populating the One World religion. That is a dangerous deception.

This is something we all need to reflect on.

Another matter of concern, is an article from 1999, reporting that 14 people died in a stampede in Nigeria, people rushing to the stage of Reinhard Bonnke to receive healing.

The source of this information is well known Washington Post.

Has the German evangelist ever repented for causing the death of such innocent people?

Yesterday, I heard Bonnke telling me that “Jesus Christ will jump out of the TV Screen, and touch me”.

Since Bonnke has given strange statements like this in the earlier days of his ministry, I took extra notice of this latest promotion stunt on God.tv.

Source for earlier comments by Bonnke: Deception in the Church.

Since the Bible explains that God do not live in made man temples, I do not believe that Jesus has taken refuge inside any electronic box in my living room.

But that Jesus can touch people in all kinds of situations, that I know for sure.

My concern for Reinhard Bonnke is genuine. He preach the cross, even though he does not tell Muslims in Nigeria that Muhammad is a false prophet. May be He should do that. At least write it on the response cards. If a Muslim now sign the card, I feel He is willing to leave the false religion of Islam.

I hope and pray that Bonnke has not been deceived in our last and very challenging days.

Let me underline, that God.tv is not on the list of my favorite TV stations. Bonnke is an evangelist with a global audience, and we need to lift him up in prayer.

Having a passed One million viewed blog, I also need to be corrected in love. Please tell Bonnke that I wrote this article about the ministry He leads.

  1. Well said Ivar,
Your humility speaks volumes we all need to be disciplined and loved. I always ask the Lord to discipline me and most of the its when I worry about getting lost in these dark days. i pray for us all that we do not listen to preachers who claim to know the truth yet will say anything to please the ears of men. Just like Mr Bonnke and his fellow God TV brethren.
I personally don’t listen to Mr Bonnke or watch God TV, I just cant turn my ear to it, but for others it is good to expose this falsehood to those whose eyes are barely open.
    Peace be with you

    1. Dear Rob.

      Shalom.

Some of my articles have been picked up by watching God.tv for “educational purposes”. Like the many incredible statements of Benny Hinn. I have a lot of people around me who listen to CD and DVD’s of Reinhard Bonnke, so I am ready to get some pepper for this article.

  2. Re: “Jesus Christ will jump out of the TV Screen, and touch me”.

Just what the heck does Bonke think, that Jesus Christ is a “Jack in the box”? How can he even dare to use words like that about the Son-of-God?

These are the ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ many will realize and others will not and sadly will be dragged into the eternal flames. The Lord help them.

    1. Dear Jes.

      Shalom.

I sometimes say funny things to people in private. I use irony, and I have private talks with people about things I can never say in public. But this statement of Reinhard Bonnke went live on a TV Channel, who claims they have a vision of reaching one billion souls. In such a global forum, you better be careful in regards to not Biblical talk in the name of Jesus.

When we write comments on this blog, we also need to take a second look at the text, before we press the submit button. It is difficult to press the “regret button”.

      1. I wonder how I missed this one out. Ivar, just what is it that I said so bad? Bonke is the one who said this as quoted above:

[[Yesterday, I heard Bonnke telling me that “Jesus Christ will jump out of the TV Screen, and touch me”. ]]

and so I responded accordingly in defense of Yeshua or maybe I shouldn’t have because what Bonke said I presume was about Jesus Christ NOT Yeshua. They are two different deities – JC the false and YESHUA the TRUTH, the WAY, and the LIFE.

[[ You quoted: When we write comments on this blog, we also need to take a second look at the text, before we press the submit button. It is difficult to press the “regret button”. ]]

Really Ivar? But there have been commenters who have used the “F” word, the “B” word and other profane language but you being the owner of the blog and a “christian” did not have the courage to confront them. If I had owned a blog I would have put all comments on hold until I made sure there was no such profanity by commenters. But you were either afraid or lukewarm – what do you gain by this.

      2. Dear Jes.

        Shalom.

No, I thought your comment was good. I just wanted to add that the process of Holiness is a bumpy road. The process of Salvation is not. We are already saved. The doctrine of Justification by faith alone, In Yeshua alone, separated from works and deeds, STANDS.

      3. Dear Yes.

        Shalom.

        My reply:

As the Editor in Chief, It is my responsibility that no one is deceived on this blog. But I am not responsible for the consequence and fruits of freedom of speech.

There is a possibility of not permitting comments at all, but let people take my articles and message with them into their daily life. I do not believe this is what I am called t do. I felt Jesus calling me to make a free and open forum for debate on faith in Him.

When there is filthy language on this blog, I normally rebuke such people. If this is repeated, I spam them. I have surely made mistakes. So please forgive my shortcomings.

  3. I agree with your statement Ivar. “My concern for Reinhard Bonnke is genuine. He preach the cross, even though he does not tell Muslims in Nigeria that Muhammad is a false prophet.”

Bonnke has the chance to do this, because he is in front of millions? viewers. To have that opportunity, where people are focused on what you are saying next, and such a large amount of people, I believe anyone in this position, and who claims to believe in Jesus Christ, should state it, and also state who (Mohammed one among many) is a false prophet.

    God Bless

  4. Dear Author and Readers

Thank you for taking a moment to read someone else’s response…I am also very concerned about pastors and evangelists who speak about a great earthly revival because that is not what my Bible (King James) predicted will happen.

The Bible tells us that there will come a “great falling away” time in our history and people will do what is right in their own sight as opposed to what the Bible tells them.

I also read that true Christian believers will eventually suffer great persecutions because we believe in one true savior…Jesus. I am really doing everything I can to follow the word of God and you won’t believe how muck flak I get for living my life differently…like not honering time-held traditions (pagan) that my family used to celebrate.

I believe there will be many people saved but as far as a genuine world revival…no. The Bible said the end times will be like the days of Noah and I’m sorry to say…even back then Noah and his family were mocked for obeying the word of God.

So, not to put a damper on anyone’s joy in Christ, but get ready folks He is coming, yes, sooner than you think…but first we’re in for a rough time.

    1. Well said Michael,

There are strict rules laid out for us by Yeshua(Jesus) as to how we should walk with God (follow His instructions) – and how we should live our lives but that is not what more than half of this world is practicing, instead they interpret the WORD according to their own understanding and do things according to their own fancy. The apostles and disciples of Yeshua did not do what today’s preachers are doing and preaching but taught exactly what Yeshua taught them. Therefore, when such shepherds meet Yeshua face to face, HE will say:
      Mt 7:21-23
21- Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22- Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23- And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
The rest of it can be read here and I know for sure many will be offended but I do what I have to do that I may be held blameless by King Yeshua. http://www.torahofmessiah.com/mt7lawless.html

      1. Dear Jes.

        Shalom, and love in Yeshua.

Into my 8th year with King Messiah, I have learned that I first have to take a look in the mirror, before pointing my fingers at others.

Do I obey my Master, and do I do the will of the Father?

The answer that comes next, will guide me. Not put me into condemnation. I do partly obey my Master, and I do the will of the Father as quickly as I can. There are times when I am on a mountain top, and there are times I feel i am in a gutter. The process of holiness that is going on in my life, Is sometimes speedy, and at some moments put almost on halt, by me. That is when i come under rebukes and discipline.

I have learned, that regardless of what I feel on a particular day, the doctrine of Justification stands. Praise Yehsua.

It is like this with all men. When the Lord needs to change in my life, might be very different from what He is changing in yours.

There is no red line between the concept of being a convert, and being a disciple. Like the converts are on teir way to Hell, and only the fully educated and worthy “disciples” who will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Sometimes I feel it might be closer to the opposite. The “fully educated” among us, are the very hypocrites. They hide their sins, and makes people around them feel like -0-.

I would rather pray: “Yeshua, have mercy on my soul”. Amen.

  5. Bonnke is a man of God and a gift to this generation. When he speaks faith it should not be miscontrued to mean something else. Those who are pessimistic about the last days should give way to those who are willing to carry out the great commission of Jesus Christ and see results!

  6. I have only one question to ask believers out there…….Have we done for the kingdom of heaven even half of what this man has??!! None of us are perfect……we may stumble in our walk of faith…. I hope that all of us continue to ‘fix our eyes on the author and perfector of our faith’ – the Lord Jesus Christ!!

  7. Ivar, you wrote ….. Into my 8th year with King Messiah, I have learned that I first have to take a look in the mirror, before pointing my fingers at others….

Why you telling me this? You are the one who is coming out with all these different news articles and writing against them. If you are so perfect why write about others in the first place? I am only a commenter and I never use profanity but always write in defense of Yeshua and the WORD.

I am not the perfect person in this world and never will be for as a human being I have my drawbacks like all others BUT I have fear of the Lord and I do my best to follow in His Word even if I have to blurt out the truth and lose a friend for I would rather lose a friend then lose my Savior Yeshua for ever. Therefore, I will continue to defend the WORD OF GOD – YESHUA as long as I have my life in me.

I presume your indirect finger pointing statement was directed at me – why don’t you just say it straight off? In fact your whole comment is garbled I can’t make sense of it. However, if you think Bonke is a true man of god – so be it – But to my mind he is a false prophet!!

    1. Dear Jes.

      Shalom.

This is one of my bad days.

You are totally misunderstanding my message. And the error is with my pen.

I have nothing but good things to say about you. Your comments are great, and you are ministering to other people, being used by the Messiah.

      You wrote:

However, if you think Bonke is a true man of god – so be it – But to my mind he is a false prophet!!

      My reply

I agree with you in regards to Bonke.

      1. Shalom again Ivar,

Hey take it easy, we all have our bad days, sad days, weary days and so on. Take all your burdens and lay it at the feet of Yeshua, he will take care of all that – He said so and He meant it:
Yeshua said; “Come to me all who labor and are burdened and I will find rest for you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am humble and gentle of spirit, you will find peace for your heart. For my yoke is pleasant and light is my burden.” (Mathew 11:28-30)

        ma‛gâl / ma‛gâlâh
        BDB Definition:
        entrenchment, track מעגּלה / מעגּל
This word comes from the root agal עגּל which means round or a bullock as in a bullock circling around in play. Ma’gal literally means the trench made from the wheels of carts that are pulled by oxen to tread grain, thus making trenches or ruts. This is what the meaning of being a disciple is all about. The yoke of the oxen, the yoke of learning. An older experienced ox is yoked to a younger inexperienced one in order to teach it how to pull a load…Learning through being yoked to the Master (Matthew 11:29)
The word for מדרש ‘midrash,’ which is the term for discussing the Scriptures after the Torah portion was read {Acts 13:15}, comes from the root דרש ‘drash’ which means to thresh. Grains were placed on the threshing floor where they were trampled on and beaten in order to separate the hulls from the grain as the oxen walked in a circular manner.
This is describes the purpose of the Torah portions. They are cyclical, keeping us in ruts of righteousness and helping us to continue walking in the Word and threshing the correct meaning of the text by comparing spiritual things with spiritual things (1 Corinthians 2:13). It helps us to rely on the Word for meaning instead of sermons from men.

After every storm, there is calm”

        Be blessed.

  8. Shalom Ivar,

To err is human and to forgive is Divine – and so I will forgive you this time and 70 x 7 times that makes it 490 times – and this is where it STOPS!!

    Be blessed in Yeshua!!

    1. Dear Yes.

      Shalom.

      Thanks. I need forgiveness.

I have made a blog exposing fake and falsehood. I believe there is a valid Biblical calling to do so:

      Ephesians 5:11
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

      (end of scripture)

Even as Paul expose false prophets and teachers, He is aware of the mirror picture of him self. That Is why He says, “What a wretched man I am”.

I expose my self. When I am weak, than I am strong. I do not pretend to be anything but a slave of the righteousness of Yeshua my Lord.

  9. i need prayers pastor, pray for my life, pray for my health, i want to get a job to do, but also pray for my parents, my name is erick chiduo from tanzania

    1. Sjoeee im a young lady turning 29 and I am shocked to read some of the comments. The bible teaches us NOT to judge, we do not know who the false prohets are but one day when Jesus comes for His children everyone will stand before Him and will have yo deal with what we did wrong. I believe that if a person believes in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and lives according to His will He will be blessed. We are on earth to gather souls for Christ so I pray that we will stop the judgement and start working for the kingdom of God.
      Blessings for everyone

  10. You are just like jannes and jambres who opposed d truth…2tim 3:7, if christ has been expecting few, why preparing many mansion in his father’s house? jh 14:1-3, dis same Jesus d bible says…” d whole world turns after him…and large crowd foówe him…, pls find something to do

  11. Dear Readers

In response to my original message regarding Bonke, I am not the type of person seeking to criticise some one working for the Kingdom of God, however, I was merely remarking on a trend of “it’s all okay, love & peace-kumbaya-happy clappy” message being perpetuated by many evangelists as opposed to encouraging a deep, meaningful and lasting change from within a person.

The scriptures tell us that God does NOT want us to be equally yoked with the unbelievers and that Jesus wants you and I to renew our minds and be transformed…and I sincerely want to do that because God is the Creator…I believe His Word…I love Him and want to walk in the truth…even when it means accepting “God’s Truth” is sometimes uncomfortable and difficult.

This may sound rather harsh…though I’m saying it in love: “there’s too much compromise and conformity in churches today…it’s all God loves you no matter what…love & peace-kumbaya-happy clappy!”

  12. Wow! Is it not very easy to sit in the comfort of your home by your computer and dictate what and how you think a man on missions filed you talk? We are not perfect being humans, so expect some imperfections. Why are you all really against him (Bonke)? I hope you have the courage to say the truth. A God’s minister will rise or fall via his or her master and if you are not the master, then get up from the seat of Moses from where you become the self appointed judge; it is folly.

This is not to insult anyone, but I stand behind my words.

  13. The whole snake oil salesman routine turns me off. It’s more suitable for promoting the devil but I’ve never watched this guy before.

    1. 2 Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”

  14. I know Reinhardt Bönnke since the ’60’s as a man of absolute integrity. Don’t advertise your lack of knowledge like this. He has made millions and millions of cönverts in Africa. A few years ago Africa was seen as THE christian continent in the world. At the moment millions of Chinese people are being converted. The north eastern part of the world is coming to Jesus like never before in history. At the present rate they calculate that by the year 2032, hypothetically, the whole world will be christians. It is the fastest growing religion on earth. What do YOU call a revival? You are clearly not a citizen of mother earth. Next time you try to write an article, go an do your homework beforehand.

  15. Erna
    Peace and greetings
I heard this week that Christianity is growing faster now than any other religion. The gospel is reaching the uttermost. I thought the Muslim religion was. Praise Jesus for the advancement of the kingdom on earth.

  16. To all whom condem us for calling jesus, Jesus instead of Yeshua, i assume you also called Him Jesus until you heard the name Yeshua but even amongst the restored name groups there is arguments whether it be yeshua, Yehushua, Yohushua, Yahushua etc etc. Why did He have the NT translated into greek and not hebrew, has He therefore rejected every person whom has called on Jesus, why does satan fear the name Jesus as much as he fears Yeshua? Its the same name in a diferent language.

  17. Its just unfortunate that some ill-informed people can open their mouths out wide and say all sorts. Reinhard Bonnke is a true man of God and if this is anything to go by, I’ve been touched severally by his messages. To say Jesus will come out of your TV is figurative. And who knows, Jesus could. Don’t limit God. And pls like someone said, get a job!

Meanwhile, plunge into the mission field and lets see how far you’d go. May God open our eyes to see our wretchedness and not others’. Jesus is Lord.

  18. Isn’t it crazy how there are always great men of God who are persecuted by the church. Did Jesus not say we will do greater things than He? Did he not say disciple the nations? Did he not say preach that the kingdom of God is at hand? How can you talk about the people God has put in place for these things. The false prophets don’t promote Jesus and preach the gospel. They twist the word. False prophets try to glorify themselves and not God. False prophets want people to follow them and not follow Jesus. They will be loved by everyone who doesn’t know the Lord and doesn’t have guidance through the holy spirit. They will preach that it’s ok to sin and things like that.
