Catholic Bible with book claiming the Messiah will die at end of age

The book of 2 Esdras is found in some versions of the Catholic Bible. It claims that at the end of the age the Messiah will die. Reject this false prophetic book in regards to the Messiah, but read some interesting stuff about the coming of the man of lawlessness.

The Papal system has approved many books not inspired by The Holy Ghost in a bid to defend the gospel of salvation by works.
The Papal system has approved many books not inspired by The Holy Ghost in a bid to defend the gospel of salvation by works.

One of my faithful commentators does use the Apocrypha to try to justify some of the Roman Catholic doctrines. To try to explain how dangerous this kind of attitude is, I will try to use the book of 2 Esdras. This book was a part of the Vulgate, and the first Latin cannon. But have correctly been rejected by those who claim that use of the Apocrypha will open up the Church for doctrines taught by demons.

The book of 2 Esdras came into the Catholic cannon, to strengthen the defense of the false gospel of salvation by works.

2 Esdras 9: 7

«Some people will escape destruction and be saved by their good work or by their faith».

Just like the book of Tobit. During an earlier Bible school lesson, I have explained that the book of Tobit is not inspired by the Holy Ghost, because it promotes witchcraft. The book of 2 Esdras has other errors, that is even more spectacular. This book of this false prophet correctly claims that God has a Son, and portray Him as the Messiah. But it also claims that all men including the Messiah, is going to die at the end of the age.

Only God the Most High will be left.

This is basically a type of revelation that the prophet Muhammad is going to receive some hundred years later. That God the Almighty, which in Islam is named «Allah», also have a prophet son named Jesus. The Messiah who appear in this book in the Catholic Bible, seems to be quite similar to the «Islamic Jesus», a mortal prophet. Who is dead an gone, and never to return again.

2 Esdras 7:28-29.

«My Son, the Messiah will be revealed, together with those who comes with him. He will bring four hundred years of happiness to all these survivors. At the end of that time, my Son the Messiah and all human beings will die».

The story ends with all men coming back after seven days, and will find God the Most High sitting in his judgment seat. Now people will go to the pit of Hell or to Paradise.

I feel that more closer than this, the Catholic faith will never get to Islam. But this is not a revelation from God of the Bible. This is a message to us inspired by demons.

One other verse from this book of the Apocrypha, might serve as a message of how antichrist will come an reign:

2. Esdras 13:25.

«This is the meaning of the vision. The man you saw coming up from the sea, represents the one who God Most High has kept ready for many ages. He will free the World he created, and establish a new World order for those who survive»

The true Holy Bible says the man that comes up from the sea to create a new World order, is the antichrist. In the book of Revelation, the Jewish Apostle John gives him the name «The beast». Martin Luther identified this man who rule with the power of the beast, to be the Pope of Rome. Luther called the present Pope an antichrist, the head of a powerful religious system claiming to be holy.

Revelation 13:2

«And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority»

The book of 2 Edras also explains, that the man that comes up and out of the sea, will gather a great crowed of «peace loving people», to establish this new World order.

2 Edras 13:39.

«You saw him gather another great crowed of peace loving people. These are the 10 tribes of Israel, who were taken away into captivity in the time of King Hoshea, King Shalmaneser of Assyria captured them, and brought them to a land east of the river Euphrates».

The prophet goes on telling us that they moved further east, and that God even blocked rivers for them, so they could cross, like the Hebrews passed through the Red Sea. And not to forget. This Catholic book explains that when these 10 tribes return to bring peace to Israel, God will again depart the waters of the rivers, to make them cross over on dry land.

This reminds me about the great miracles and wonders, the last antichrist will perform. And you do not need to guess from which land in the East, this people are going to return. The true book of Revelation in the Bible speaks about 200 million «peace loving» soldiers who will march to make war on Israel. I guess that must be the Communist state of China, or India. Most likely both of them.

In 2. Esdras 6:21 you can read more about what this prophet tells will happen just before the end of the age.

2. Esdras 6:21

«Children only one year old will speak. Pregnant women will give birth after only three and four months, and their premature babies will live and run about.»

The Pope lead you astry from the tru Biblical faith
The Pope lead you astry from the tru Biblical faith

Since God once made a donkey speak, I cant rule out the possibility of such an event taking place. But since it has not been mentioned in the Holy Bible, I will warn you from believing this is anything but demonic fiction.

Because in this apocalyptic book, there will be even more terrible things going on:

2. Esdras 5:8.

«At their monthly periods, women will bear monsters».

Well, to come to a conclusion, lets start with the tittle of this article:

«Catholic Bible with book claiming the Messiah will die at end of age»

This could have been the truth, if you had just replace the word Messiah with the word antichrist. He will surely die, and end up in the lake of fire.

Please repent, and get rid of the «Demon Son of the demon God Most High» that rules in your heart. Get your self a Bible that is not corrupted.

  1. Well this faithful commentator cannot say anything because I have never heard of the book:>) You lucky guy……..

    God Bless, Sandy

    1. Dear Sandy.

Its found in Good News Bible, the 25th of July 1979 version. The Imprimatur is of Cardinal Basil Hume O.S.B, Archbishop of Westminster.

  2. Now I know why I don’t trust your version of anything Catholic…

The book today termed 2 Esdras is not in the Jewish, Protestant, Catholic, or Orthodox canon. It was written too late to be included in the Septuagint, but it was in an appendix to the Vulgate, and it is also found among the Apocrypha in the King James Version and Revised Standard Version.

    From http://www.bible-researcher.com/tev.html, the real story…
In a section between the Old Testament and the New Testament this Bible contains two series of books: (1) Tobit, Judith, Esther (Greek text), Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach, Baruch, Letter of Jeremiah, Song of the Three Young Men, Susanna, Bel and the Dragon, 1 Maccabees, and 2 Maccabees, and (2)1 Esdras, 2 Esdras, and the Prayer of Manasseh. With the exception of 2 Esdras, these books formed part of the Septuagint Greek text of the Old Testament which was in circulation at the time of Christ. The first series of books are accepted by Roman Catholics as part of the canon of the Old Testament; and both series are regarded by many Protestants (including especially Anglicans, Episcopalians, and Lutherans) as worthy of at least private reading, though they are not regarded as a basis for doctrine.

  3. This books is horrible. I’ve never read anything filled with so much ridiculous lies.

Esdras 5:8. At their monthly periods, women will bear monsters.

Complete, and utterly horrible, fabricated lies. When did these people forget/ignore that only the HOLY BIBLE was the complete and utter truth?

  4. Thanks David! This guy often spews hate and misrepresents the Catholic faith, twisting it to suit his ridiculous arguments. I just checked my “Catholic Bible” and this book is not to be found.
I don’t know how any serious person who wishes to study the Bible would listen to him.

  5. i have seen this book in some of catholic books, of my friend
it is not just esdra but a lot of false writings divided in different books. it is place before the new testament

my friend told me that he is ignoring that part of bible because it is lies. and he told me too not to read it

there are some CATHOLIC bible that don’t have this fillings but there are some who have it just like the one my friend have.

so i better use KING JAMES version.. it is the nearest to the original. =)

    1. Dear mHennee

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

It is true that the Catholic Bible holds different not canonized books. The challenge the Catholic face, is that various Catholic Bibles holds a different mix of books in the Old Testament.

Protestant Bibles hold the same books. Either you read good old King James, NIV or prefer the Amplified version. I have 11 Bible versions in my office. I like to do deep studies, and compare.

I can testify that the wordings if the different Bible versions are almost exactly the same. There are only minimal differences, linked to different way to compose sentences.

I do prefer the NIV. Not because its the perfect version, but because of the easy understandable English used.

  6. Jude 1:10 says “But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves.”

If you do not understand the Word of God thru 2 Esdras, why blaming others? Blame yourself. The bible says, seek and you will get.

If you want the answer, come to my blog http://www.christhyani.blogspot.com/ and raise your doubt.

I really pity the joker who wrote on top of this page, as copied below,

  7. Firstly 2 Extras is not part of the Roman Catholic canon. It was however included in the original King James Bible (1611 edition). I have a modern Kjv that still contains it. That’s the Bible I looked up to cross check your references (KJV). However it’s not in any of my catholic bibles, and I own several versions. So get your facts straight and stop preaching falsehood and heresy.

  8. What a bunch of ignorant people. The Apocrypha was canonized within the KJV 1611.

It was rwmoved in the late 1880’s.

You are definitely reading the books terribly wrong and without the Spirit.

There are lots of women bearing monsters as we speak.

    Lawless and unfaithful monsters.

The 10 Tribes according to Isaiah 11:11 are near the area where 2 Esdras 13:34-38 says the Messiah will return.

It’s obvious you are not a bible student.

The Early Prophets quoted the Apocrypha and Lost Books.

Jude :14- This is from the book of Enoch.

Joshua 10:13- This is the book of Jasher.

2 nd Samuel 1:18- the book of Jasher

    Nathan the Prophet
1 Chronicles 29:29 Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer.

Colossians 4:16 – The epistles of Laodicea

Stop being so Europeanic and Fearful.

    Grow in the Spirit.

    The Most High is Returning.

  9. Sorry I’m late to this, but id like to clarify because no commenters have. Esdras is the greek name for Ezra. if you read the Douay-Rheims or the Ronald Knox translation 1 and 2 Ezra will be written as 1 and 2 Esdras.
This causes confusion because there are other non canonical books that were written only in greek with the same name “Esdras”. The book he is talking about is not a part of the Catholic canon.
