Google boss Eric Schmidt warns on social use of media

Young people may one day have to change their names in order to escape their previous online activity.

Eric Schmidt is the Chariman and Chief executive of Google.

This statement is not from an “offline grandfather” of the old days. Its a warning from Google boss Eric Schmidt.

Mr Schmidt told the Wall Street Journal he feared they did not understand the consequences of having so much personal information about them online.

The firm has been busy bolstering its social networking presence recently.

Google has acquired Slide and Jambool, two firms specialising in providing services for social networks. Slide is gaming firm, whilst Jambool provides virtual currencies and payments.

Many believe the acquisitions are a sign that the search giant is about to launch another social network. Some commentators have already given the rumoured product a name: Google.me.

My comment:

Would Jesus have made a Face Book pages on him self?

Matthew 8:4
Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Matthew 16:20
Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

Matthew 17:9
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”

Matthew 12:15-18
Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick, warning them not to tell who he was. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

Jesus did not want the “blitz lamps” to rest on Him. He did not come to Earth to gain popularity, become famous and rich.

So, please examine your self.

What kind of gossips are you entertaining on various electronic Social Media?

1 Timothy 5:13

Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.

Romans 1:28-30

Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents…
