The British Foreign Office on Wednesday evening «invited» Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor to a meeting.
Yesterday night UK and Israeli officials met to discuss suspicions that British passports were used in the assassination of Hamas military commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh last month in Dubai.
The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed that the identities used by six members of a hit squad that killed Hamas military leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai on Jan. 20 were those of British passport holders living in Israel.
While the names, passport numbers and dates of birth on the fraudulent passports matched the originals, the photographs and signatures differed.
But to underline that the issue had not yet developed into a full-blown diplomatic crisis with London, a spokesman at the British Embassy in Tel Aviv stressed that Prosor had been «invited» and not «summoned» to the meeting with Permanent Undersecretary and head of the Diplomatic Service Peter Ricketts.

Why should the British Government worry about the assassination of a Hamas terrorist?
Almost every day the British Royal Army kills Islamic Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan?
Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was not in Dubai to soak sun on the beach. He was there to buy fire arms and chemicals from Iran, and in the international market. It was his job to bring this stuff into Gaza through the «candy-tunnels» Hamas has dug into Egypt.
Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was doing more than that. He was also hired by Iran to export Islamic terrorism into other Arabic nations in the Middle East. Like giving support to the Islamic uprising in Yemen.
Mahmoud al-Mabhouh had many enemies, but a few strong friends. One of them was Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Now,lets see how close friendship he had with the UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and pasted Prime Minister turned Middle East «peace envoy» Tony Blair..
