Off-bitten toe of Roman Catholic priest to be on exposition in Lisbon

The lost toe of the Catholic saint Francis Xavier, and other sacred relics of the patron saint of Goa, will be exposed for public veneration. It will take place in St. Roque´s Church in the heart of Lisbon.

Some of the toes of this Catholic saint is missing. One of them has been found, and will be put on public display in Lisbon.
More than one toe of this Roman Catholic priest displayed in Old Goa is missing.

The reliquary is of St. Francis toe, which as per historical accounts was bitten off the saints body by a Portuguese noble lady in the 16th century.

The Saints vestments and other relics belonged to the family of the Count of Nova Goa, and have recently been donated to Santa Casa De Misericordia a state run Portuguese Charity who also maintains a well known museum in Lisbon.

The skull of the Roman Catholic priest can be adored in Old Goa in Goa in India.

The occasion will be commemorated with a solemn mass organized by the Santa Casa in collaboration with the Casa de Goa, the apex organization of the Goan community in Portugal.

My comment:

It is not funny to tell the Roman Catholic that this is paganism, and reminds me about Egyptian worship of mummies.

The Bishop of Goa and his priests worship the mummified body of a Catholic priest in Old Goa.

But I have to.

This is about life and death. The eternal consequences of adoration, veneration or worshiping of a skeleton is God´s wrath and judgment.

What do Pastors in Protestant Churches think they are doing, when they move in ecumenical forums with Rome? Do they think they will escape the coming judgment for approving this kind of «church» as Christian?

Revelation 9:20
The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.

  1. Just wanted to say that I noticed that your website is not displayed correctly when it is viewed under WingleBird browser on the Linux platform. Sometimes I check your website from Linux OS while I’m at work.. and it looks really messed up. Hope you fix that soon and keep up the good work. 🙂

  2. Let’s clear something up:

    1) Roman Catholics do not worship the relics of saints, they venerate them, just as St. Luke tells us in Acts of the Apostles, and St. Paul tells us in his letters. Catholics do not revere saints as “gods”, but instead look to them as examples of living a moral life surrounded by Christ, just as the saints did. Just as people look up to political figures and celebrities as role models and examples, we Catholics look to our “political figures” and “celebrities” (saints) for ways in which to live our lives.

For example, say your older brother or sister passed away and you were extremely close. You shared your whole life together and looked up to him or her as a hero and a role model. Would you not keep a memento of their’s? – maybe a piece of jewelry or another possession they owned. How would you feel if someone tried to trash that memento and tell you that you were foolish for keeping it? How would you feel if someone scorned your brother or sister and cursed their name? You wouldn’t be too happy – the same way you would feel if this happened to you, we Roman Catholics feel every single time people condemn us for remembering the exemplary live of your brothers and sister in Christ.

    1. Dear Nanny.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

It does not matter what Catholics feel or think about the Word of God. The scriptures can stand alone, and is the truth regardless of what the Roman Catholic Church would say. When Jesus says pray to the Father in my name, this is what a Christian will do. The Catholics prays in the name of created beings. That is sin, and when you are a slave of sin, you will surely perish.

You might keep a piece of Jewelry of you older brother that has passed away. But please do not keep his skull, or an off bitten toe. Like in the example of Francis Xavier in Old Goa.

      1. Dear Gina.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

        You asked:

“The scriptures can stand alone.” Can you please explain what you mean by this?

        My reply:

You do not have to add, to what Jesus said. Not educated fishermen, were his first apostles.

      2. Andrew,

        2 Timothy 3:15-17

15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

        Galatians 1:8

8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!

        Colossians 2:8

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

God’s Word alone is the only thing that can equip us for His ministry (that was His purpose for giving it to us!). No other writing or human tradition can give us the tools we need to share the gospel. And anything that seeks to add to, or contradict the scriptures will be subject to God’s wrath.

  3. This is not Francis Xavier’s body. His body was thrown to sea by the Portuguese ship due to decomposition.

Portuguese found the body of Thotagamuve Sri Rahula Thero (A well known Buddhist monk in Sri Lanka at that time for his intelligence) who passed away days or months back known to be mummified after death automatically due to a rare medicine he consumed without knowledge in his young ages. His body was remained same for many days or months at the time of Portuguese capture of body. Few armed Portuguese soldiers came and taken the body by force from villagers.

Portuguese then replaced the robe with a kit of a catholic priest and placed it in Goa.

This is in the history of Sri Lanka (Ceylon). People who are interested can verify this by checking DNA with a relation of the Buddhist monk who’s living in Sri Lanka today.

    1. Dear Saman.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

      You wrote:

      My reply:

What ever is there inside the coffin on the wall in Old Goa, is also pretty decomposed.

If the Catholics do not put that rotten skeleton back into the grave, there might be another outbreak of plague in this place. Whoever this man might have been, this corps is not a pretty sight.

When the Jews was burnt and killed in Old Goa, a city with 200.000 people put a curse on their own head. In 1775 A.D the “Rome of the East” was decimated to rubble, and hardly 1500 surviving souls.

      Read this article, and shudder.

  4. Oh Ivar,

Those photos are probably one of the worst photos I have ever seen. Unfortunately, I saw them without having my breakfast yet.

Manny Said:Roman Catholics do not worship the relics of saints, they venerate them

My comment: Venerate means to regard with reverential respect; to honor with mingled respect and awe; to reverence; to revere; as, we venerate parents and elders

Worship means to love unquestioningly and uncritically or to excess; venerate as an idol.

And last but Best part of all: God’s Holy Word:
    Romans 1:25-26
1:25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

      1. With respect, they are not the same thing. Please look at the definition of these things in a dictionary for better understanding. Veneration means to regard someone with reverence and respect. One must have this respect for every person as God’s Creation. This is part of fulfilling Jesus’ commandment to love one another. Worship means adoration of something/someone, and this must be for God alone. It is possible to have reverence and respect for someone without idolising them. Eg. I have respect for my husband, but I do not worship him.

      2. Barbara,

According to the dictionary they do. Kissing and respecting your husband is completely different from what catholics do: kissing and praying to dead body parts. Not only is it disgusting, but it goes against God’s word.

1 Corinthians 10:7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry.

  5. This is not St. Francis Xavier. This is a greatest ven Thotagamuwe sri Rahula who was was born in 1408 at
Dematana, an attractive and fascinating village close to Dedigama in
the Kegalle district. He was named in lay life as Jayaba Kumaru. As
a result of his mother Keerawelle Kumari, (the elder sister of Queen
of Parakramabahu VI) who passed away in the first year of his birth
and his father Wickramabahu being ordained after a lapse of two
years of his birth, he was taken by family members and well-wishers
to the palace of Kotte and was placed under the guardianship of King
Parakramabahu the VIth (Siri Perakumba) 1412 – 1467. Having been
educated under both, his grandfather Uthurumula Rahula Thera and
his uncle Wilgammula Thera, he was ordained according to the
Buddhist traditional rituals and was known as Vachissara Rahula
Thera (1425). In a short spell of time he procured a profound and
wide knowledge in a variety of oriental languages and the following
voluminous compositions written by him will adequately bear testimony
to his inestimable erudition and intellectuality.
Buddhagajjaya 1430, Vurthamala Sandesaya 1435, Paravi
    Sandesaya 1445, Selalihini Sandesaya 1447, Kawyasekaraya 1449,
Panchika Pradeepaya 1457, Buddipasadiniya 1480, Sakaskada and
    Mawulu Sandesaya.
It is recorded that Ven. Sri Rahula Thera spent his prime of life at
Thotagamuwa Temple and on account of this reason he was widely
recognized as Thotagamuwe Sri Rahula Thera.
Vijayaba Pirivena of Thotagamuwa in the Galle district served as
the most popular centre of learning about nine and half centuries
back. Thotagamuwa is a picturesque hamlet adjacent to Hikkaduwa
town. King Vijayabahu I (1055 – 1110) was instrumental in inaugurating
    this extensively acclaimed Vijayaba Pirivena.
It is the presumption of our historians and archaeologists that this
edifice would have been a five storeyed building and a dominant
institution of education equivalent to a university where diverse subjects
were in the curriculum including the Tamil langauge. It is
assumed that this monastery was later renovated and refurbished as a
two storeyed structure by King Parakramabahu IV (1302 – 1326).
Ven. Thotagamuwe Sri Rahula Thera succeeded as the chief prelate
of the most reputed and renowned Thotagamuwa Vijayaba Pirivena
followed by Uthurumula Rahula Thera and Galathurumula There.
He was a multi-linguist (Shad Bhasha Parameswara) and a lettered
oriental scholar par excellence and was competent in reciting the
Thripitaka (the three divisions of the Buddhist scriptures) by rote.
Ven. Sri Rahula Thera was also a distinguished author, veteran
astrologer and a proficient ayurvedic physician whose reputation pervaded
    beyond our shores.
Relating to the latter part of his life there are two legendary versions.
After rendering an inestimable and monumental contribution at
Vijayaba Pirivena he passed away peacefully. On hearing this distressing
and agonizing news, the villagers inhabiting around the temple
flocked in their thousand to bestow their last homage and reverence.
Fearing a possible transference of this mysterious holy body (supposed
to have growing hair and nails) by the Portuguese (1505-1658)
to some other locality, the villagers had concealed the mortal remains
at Ambana Indurugiri cave close to Elpitiya in the Galle district for
safety and security. The second rendition is that he had departed
Vijayaba Pirivena and had resided at Obbegoda Temple at
Moneragala and Dikwella for a brief period and finally settled down
at Ambana Indurugiri cave surrounded by a mammoth woodland at
that period (1476), It is in the folk-tale and legend that he was also an
exorcist who had decreed demons to execute manual labour work to
intensify the protection and security of Ambana cave and the vicinity.
In consideration of those facts, it can be assumed that his demise
would have taken place during 1491.
After a considerable length of time, on receipt of information about
this mysterious and miraculous cadaver, a Portuguese team had
approached in search of this grotto and after three unsuccessful
attempts, had taken control over the body and had prepared preliminary
arrangements to despatch the holy body to Goa in India.
St Francis Xavier who had arrived from portugal to propagate missionary
activities here had participated as the leader of the expedition
to shift the body to Goa.
While on the journey he had suffered and attack of dysentery and
had passed away. It is supposed that the participants of the expedition
cremated him here and had interpreted that the body they were carrying
was of St. Francis Xavier. Finally this sacred body had been carried
over to Goa and reposed at the Basilica of Bon Jesu.
It is presumed that the venerable monk had consumed some
medicament which was prepared by himself (Sidualurasaya or
Siddaloka Rasaya) before he breathed his last and as a result it is surmised
that his body would remain approximately till the year 4230.
This fact is embodied in the final stanza engraved by him on a sheet
of copper before his demise which is depicted below:-
Christians too are in possession of similar legendary and historical
factors to prove and establish that this cadaver is of St. Francis
Xavier. Hence time is opportune to focus the attention of the officials
concerned to get this bone of contention cleared and resolved to
ascertain whether this extraordinary mortal remains are of Ven. Sri
Rahula Thera or St. Francis Xavier.
This is the space era and it will not be an intricate task or a complicate
exercise to establish by the application of modern technology
and science whether this prodigious cadaver is of Asian or Western
    origin.
The conspicuous and significant services rendered by Ven. Sri
Rahula Thera especially in the poetical field cannot be characterized
in abridged form as it is a herculean task. Particularly the Sinhala
Buddhist community owes a deep debt of gratuity to Ven. Sri Rahula
Thera for his multifarious and multiplex services.

  6. Unless you make an honest attempt to STUDY and understand Catholic theology, your arguments against the Catholic Church are nothing more than prejudiced hatred against a religion that you do not truly understand.

Your replies to those who are trying to clarify the role of Saints in the Church support my statement.

Let me put the crux of Catholic beliefs in a very simplified statement that you *should* be able to understand: Catholics *only* worship the one God in the Trinity through Jesus Christ as revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.

Unlike other Christian religions, our Sunday “service,” and most importantly, our Mass, because we are the only ones with the Sacrament of the Eucharist as instituted by Jesus Christ himself and handed down through apostolic succession (see Luke 22:19-20 and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26), is completely biblically-based, and our beliefs are biblically-founded.

The most common statement I’ve heard from people who have converted to Catholicism is that we are the only religion that has an explanation for *everything* the Church teaches (mind you, the Church does not “teach” some common traditions that are subject to hundreds of years of illiteracy and cultural influence and, therefore, may have mistakenly lost the true meaning of the tradition; for example, some cultures seem to worship Mary, but he true Church only honors her, because we only worship God the Father through Jesus Christ as revealed to us by the Holy Spirit). If you read the Catechism of the Catholic Church, its references are to the Bible, and its clarifications are often referenced to some of our earliest Saints and greatest teachers. When we venerate something, we are giving thanks to GOD for giving us that gift. We aren’t worshiping that gift.

Unlike many other Christian religions that actually teach their children what is “wrong” with the Catholic Church and that Catholics are going to hell and whatnot–and incorrectly so–the Catholic Church only teaches that, while the theology of other Christian religions may not be entirely correct, those other religions do have merit. Mind you, we do NOT condemn other religions. We leave that to God. After all, they are Christians who are inviting God into their hearts so they may have a life full of conversion. Also, the Catholic Church strives to bring the Body of Christ (His people), together as one in Him. The Protestants did exactly the opposite of that when they actively cut themselves off of the Church instead of working to improve it at the level that truly counts: the parish community. For the Protestants, it was about power, not service. Their focus was misguided. Isn’t that division exactly what the devil wanted, especially since it goes against the very Bible passages I referenced above?

Since our church “leaders” (the Catholic hierarchy is not a traditional hierarchy, but a lateral hierarchy) are only human, they are subject to sin and the limitations of the human mind, just as you and I are; however, the beauty of the Catholic Church is that, in spite of the personal and community sins of the past two thousand years, this one Body of Christ has continued to follow God’s command to move past our sins by facing them, inviting God to change our hearts, and moving forward so we can continue to serve others. After all, that service of others it the result of love. God is love. That is also what the Catholic Church teaches.

    1. Di,

Did you even bother to read the article that Ivar posted exposing the pagan rituals of the Roman Catholic “church” that are on par with how the Egyptian’s worshiped mummies? Have you looked over the other articles on this site that show horrific blasphemies that can’t compare to anything since the foundation of the world? Or did you just decided to post the typical “double talk” that all Catholics partake in so that you can remain in denial worshiping satan?

It shocks me how you can be presented with the truth about the Roman Catholic church, clear evidence of dead, rotting corpses and the pope himself bowing down and PRAYING TO THEM — and this is just the tip of the iceberg — yet you still blindly and ignorantly defend doctrines of demons! You are deceived, Di. Wake up!

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:5)

The Bible talks about those who chose to believe and follow the lies of satan through the religious traditions of men. (The Roman Catholic church.) These men and women have hearts and minds that are blinded and veiled with deception. Paul said in his message to the Corinthians: “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

The Gospel instructs those who know the REAL truth about who the Lord Jesus Christ is to present that truth and to expose all liars and blasphemers. It also warns us NOT TO TARRY when we encounter those with hardened hearts who have exchanged the truth for a lie. Exposing truth is not the same as judging others. The pope and his deceived followers don’t want to offend anyone or “judge” anyone . Everyone is accepted in satan’s Rome. There is no need to call out error, no need for right or wrong about who Jesus Christ really is, welcome Muslims, welcome necromancy, welcome worship of the golden calf! For this Roman Catholic church represents the FATHER OF ALL LIES and will never speak truth.

Judgment will, however, fall upon those like you, Di, who willfully follow satan, even after hearing and seeing the truth with your own eyes. You are as the Bible says, “always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

“For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:3-6)

You can continue “adoring” and “venerating” (bowing down and praying to) the tongue of Anthony of Lisbon, golden skeleton idols of “Mary”, and other demonic, deceptive, lying, counterfeit spirits invented by the Roman Catholic church. Your can continue chanting your meaningless repetitive prayers into the wind that blows into the flames of hell as “penance”– but be warned that your “hail marys” and rosary beads have already been condemned by the Lord Jesus Christ:

“They sacrificed to demons, which are not God–gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your fathers did not fear.”

“They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

“When you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.”

“You shall have no other gods before me.”

“Then the LORD told me, “Go down from here at once, because your people whom you brought out of Egypt have become corrupt. They have turned away quickly from what I commanded them and have made a cast idol for themselves.”

“They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols to whom they prostitute themselves. This is to be a lasting ordinance for them and for the generations to come.”

“You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.”

THE LIGHT has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. And everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

“Hear this now, O foolish people, without understanding, Who have eyes and see not, and who have ears and hear not: Do you not fear Me?’ says the Lord. ‘Will you not tremble at My presence?” (Jeremiah 5:21-22)

But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears so that they could not hear. Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear. (Zachariah 6:11-12)

“They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.”

Seek after THE REAL JESUS, Di, not the counterfeit invention by the Roman Catholic “church”. Jesus promises that you will find Him, when you seek and search for Him with ALL YOUR HEART. Come out of your deception of the RCC now as the clock is about to strike midnight and then it will be too late.

      1. Dear JM.

        Shalom.

Thanks for loving Roman Catholics enough, to be willing to tell them the truth. If we who know the truth, do not share with them how rotten the Vatican religious movement is, than we do not represent Jesus the Messiah.

May the Son of God bless you for eternity. Amen.

  7. Dear Iver,

I agree with you. They don’t realise what they are doing.

Nowadays i can see that matters are even worse. They are adopting worship methods from hinduism.

Nowadays they speak about the unity of Hindus and Christians, they speak about brotherhood & finally Catholics are adopting something from them which I cannot appreciate.

I have been to a catholic church recently and was shocked. It was not like this before.I came out of the Church with a big disappointment.

These people should first think what they do is correct or not.

    “Idol worship is a Sin.”

I believe that, in ancient times People created statues & paintings of Jesus and other saints, just to narrate the story for modern generations. Or you can take it as the historic evidence.

It is to understand the history even better & not to worship.

The World is nearing it’s End, and it is time to think seriouly about it.

Please do not preach False idols to the younger generation.

It may be Funny, but i used to think it this way.Disasters can happen at anytime.Even churches are also affected at the time & the idols inside it will be demolished or break in to pieces whatever. An idol which don’t have the power to save itself, how is it capable of saving mankind? How can it be a God?

God is an invisible Power. He is every where. He is inside our minds.

I do not mean to hurt anyone’s feelings,i just shared my thoughts…

  8. I haven’t seen Di around here of late, but I have a response to some of what she wrote.

Di: “the Catholic Church strives to bring the Body of Christ (His people), together as one in Him. The Protestants did exactly the opposite of that when they actively cut themselves off of the Church instead of working to improve it at the level that truly counts: the parish community. For the Protestants, it was about power, not service. Their focus was misguided. Isn’t that division
exactly what the devil wanted, especially since it goes against the very Bible passages I referenced above?”

Ellen: You have slandered honest Protestant believers who were doing what they needed to do to please God. Martin Luther was not out to get power–he merely wanted the Roman church to effect reform. He did not intend to separate from the Roman church but the authorities of the Roman church left him no other choice. 1 Cor. 11:19 tells us that we MUST have divisions when it is a matter of right vs. wrong teaching. While it is true that Jesus prayed to the Father in John 17 that His followers would be united, you forget that unity is only possible in the word of God. Jesus said in John 17:17, “Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth.” The word of God is essential to the life of a Christian yet for centuries, the Roman church has not only distorted the word to suit their agenda but has had the temerity to actually murder Protestants because they wanted to have the word of God in their own language!

So much of what the Roman church does is non-Biblical or even anti-Biblical. (Keeping disgusting old corpses around for Catholics to “venerate” flies in the face of a great deal of Scripture–try Philippians 4:8 for starters.) You say that Protestants should have worked at the level of the “parish community”. What good would that have done when the central authority and the church hierarchy would have fought them at every attempt they made to change anything? Are you even aware of the history of the “church” that you defend, Di? Any other institution that was as corrupt as the Roman “church” has been over the centuries, would have been abolished long ago. You should be thanking God for the Protestant Reformation as it forced some needed reforms on the Roman church. At least the Roman church doesn’t feel free to murder people anymore.

    1. Dear Ellen.

      Shalom.

      You wrote:

At least the Roman church doesn’t feel free to murder people anymore.

      My reply:

The Roman Catholic Pope has a set of secret Order brothers, who execute ‘holy orders”. The theology behind these orders, is that a man who bring an enemy of the Holy See to silence, will gain millage in Purgatory. His sins will be cleansed by the prayer of the Pope, so that He can get into Heaven quicker than normal.

The dirty politics of the Pope is best exposed in the links to the Mafia in Italy. The Vatican bank whitewash the mob’s money, in return for “certain” services.

This might being some more light to this issue:

      https://ivarfjeld.wordpress.com/2011/11/09/pius-xii-accused-of-establishing-vatican-bank-to-hide-nazi-money/

      1. Thanks Ivar, I vaguely knew about some of the dirty dealings in the Vatican over the Vatican Bank but it is difficult to get any information on Vatican corruption over here (you do a valuable service in publishing articles and writing about it). American Catholics get upset when anyone writes negatively about the RCC–so the MSM (mainstream media) avoids writing about it. Europeans (especially Italians) would be more knowledgeable because the European media reports on it.

  9. Thanks sueliz, I stand corrected. I knew something about what went on in Yugoslavia during WWII but I didn’t realize that Roman “church” priests were involved. I often marvel that there is any Roman church left standing today–so terrible have been the crimes against the people of Europe. Some of my ancestors were part of the 700,000 French Protestants (Huguenots) who fled to the “New World” because of RCC persecution in France.

  10. Correction: The way I worded it made it seem that the 700,000 fled directly to the “New World”–actually, they fled first to Protestant areas of Europe. And then, a few of my ancestors went on to the “New World” over here.

  11. Yikes! After reading about Stepinac, I can now better understand Ratzinger’s recent comments (at the installation of 22 new cardinals) about Cardinals not shrinking from “shedding blood for the sake of the Church.” He was actually trying to excuse the persecutions and murders to which the Roman church gave its approval, over the centuries! We are seeing Bible prophecy materialize before our eyes!

The next Pope will likely be the False Prophet. I never thought any Pope would be THE Antichrist even though large segments of the the RCC hierarchy have been part of an anti-Christ system for a very long time. Even RC novelist, Michael O’Brien thinks so! He wrote a novel about Vatican corruption and the Apocalypse a few years back. It’s pretty good—it’s called “Father Elijah”–it poses a fairly severe indictment of the Vatican. A Canadian, Obrien is part of the lay Catholic movement that is pressing for reform in the RCC. I doubt that they will be successful. We may see North American Catholics ultimately split from Rome, if the Lord doesn’t come first, that is. Many Catholics here are very alarmed by the attendance figures at some of the RC churches and also the severe shortage of priests. Some Catholics have spoken out about priestly celibacy, believing it to be responsible for not only the pedophile problem but the lack of priests as well. It would be good if N. American Catholics did split, as I still have cousins who are in the RCC here.

  12. Dear Ellen,

The pope claims to be the representative of Jesus on earth. His mouthpiece. The name antichrist actually means “in place of” which is exactly what the pope claims to be. Additionally he calls himself the Holy Father, the name Jesus calls His Father (and our father). The arrogance and blasphemy is in your face, but he is now considered a Christian leader and the Reformation is getting wiped out.

  13. All that is true, sueliz, but if you read the description of the False Prophet, it sounds much more like the Pope than the Antichrist does. Jesus said that false Messiahs and False Prophets would come in His name. The Antichrist will be a man of war from the moment he comes to the world’s attention (Rev. 6)–hardly like the image of the Pope (or any religious leader, for that matter). Jesus said, “Then if anyone says to you, “Look, here is the Christ!” or “There he is!” do not believe him. For false Messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. See, I have warned you.’” Matthew 24:23-25 The False Prophet will be the one to identify the Antichrist as the Messiah (Imam Mahdi, Fifth Buddha, Lord Maitreya, etc.) for those who are being deceived.

The Apostle Paul also said, “Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the later times some will desert the faith and occupy themselves with deceiving spirits and demonic teachings, influenced by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared. They will prohibit marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.” (1 Timothy 4:1-3) Sounds like the Pope and the Vatican to me–although I guess it is now okay to eat meat on Fridays. False Prophets all–but there will be one who will be over all the false prophets–I’m thinking it will be a Pope. THE False Prophet–maybe not Benedict–but perhaps the next one. Considering how things are developing, it may be the very next Pope.

And last, but not least, we have the description of the False Prophet in Revelation 13:11-15 “Then I saw another beast come up out of the earth. He had two horns like those of a lamb, but he spoke with the voice of a dragon. He exercised all the authority of the first beast. And he required all the earth and its people to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. He did astounding miracles, even making fire flash down to earth from the sky while everyone was watching. And with all the miracles he was allowed to perform on behalf of the first beast, he deceived all the people who belong to this world. He ordered the people to make a great statue of the first beast, who was fatally wounded and then came back to life. He was then permitted to give life to this statue so that it could speak. Then the statue of the beast commanded that anyone refusing to worship it must die.”

Notice the first couple of lines–“two horns like those of a lamb, but he spoke with the voice of a dragon”—he is identified with Christ but he is Satan’s mouthpiece. Who else would be identified with the Lamb of God and yet be Satan’s spokesman but the Pope? Notice also the idolatry highlighted in the last few lines of the passage. Who (along with the other criteria) would be so comfortable with idolatry but the Pope? Not a leader of Judaism or Islam—they are fierce in their opposition to any form of idolatry. I suppose a case might be made for a Buddhist monk or Hindu priest but since Buddhists don’t really have much to say about a supreme being and Hindus believe in a multiplicity of “gods,” it is doubtful that either would suit Antichrist’s purposes. And what other kind of religious leader already seeks to unite all the world’s religions but the (pagan) Pope? Haven’t noticed a lot of overtures coming from the other religions but they will fall in line once the False Prophet and the Antichrist come forward. You can already see the beginning of the trend. The Whore of Babylon is preparing “herself” to ride and the False Prophet will be right there in plain sight leading—until the Whore is destroyed (maybe even through his machinations) at the behest of the Ten Kings and the Antichrist. After “she” has served her purpose, they will destroy “her” (Rev. 17:13-18). But the False Prophet will still be around to oversee the conversion of those who are being deceived—to Satan and Antichrist’s counterfeit “church” and causing them to take the Mark of the Beast–bringing hell to earth. But it will mercifully be only for a moment in time and then the earth will be harvested of the evil-doers (Rev. 14:14-20). Maranatha!

  14. This is not the body of so called St. Francis Xavier. It’s actually the body of Sri Lanka’s most ven. Thotagamuwe Sri Rahula Thero. St. Francis Xavier has escaped the body from Sri Lanka because of it’s miracle.

  15. This is not St. Francis Xavier
    Big mistake…………….
This is Venerable Thotagamuwe Sri Rahula Thera Scholar monk holy body. He is Sri Lankan
Fearing a possible transference of this mysterious holy body (supposed to have growing hair and nails) by the Portuguese (1505-1658)
to some other locality, the villagers had concealed the mortal remains
at Ambana Indurugiri cave close to Elpitiya in the Galle district for
safety and security.
After a considerable length of time, on receipt of information about
this mysterious and miraculous cadaver, a Portuguese team had
approached in search of this grotto and after three unsuccessful
attempts, had taken control over the body and had prepared preliminary arrangements to despatch the holy body to Goa in India.
St Francis Xavier who had arrived from portugal to propagate missionary activities here had participated as the leader of the expedition
to shift the body to Goa.
While on the journey he had suffered and attack of dysentery and
had passed away. It is supposed that the participants of the expedition
cremated him here and had interpreted that the body they were carrying was of St. Francis Xavier. Finally this sacred body had been carried over to Goa and reposed at the Basilica of Bon Jesu.
It is presumed that the venerable monk had consumed some
medicament which was prepared by himself (Sidualurasaya or
Siddaloka Rasaya) before he breathed his last and as a result it is surmised that his body would remain approximately till the year 4230.
This is the space era and it will not be an intricate task or a complicate exercise to establish by the application of modern technology
and science whether this prodigious cadaver is of Asian or Western

  16. This is not a picture of Catholic saint Francis Xavier’s dead body. This is a picture of ven Thotagamuwe sri Rahula, a famous Buddhist monk found in Sri Lanka’s history. This is not an argument and I ‘so honestly’ do not have any “prejudiced hatred” over any religion as mentioned above. True, I admit that an honest attempt must be made to find the truth about this. Honestly, people who believe that this picture is of ven Thotagamuwe sri Rahula, have no reason to disagree upon a DNA test on this. So, my request is, please let a DNA test be done to find whose body this is. If the results of the test prove that this is not ven Thotagamuwe sri Rahula’s dead body, myself I, on behalf of everyone that claimed it to be as such, will apologize for all the trouble and disrespect(if anyone did have).
By the way, I’m just a 19-year-old and please forgive me if what I wrote was any offensive, false or disrespectful. Again, I understand that this is a legal issue than a religious issue.
    Thank you.
    -Chandima Wijebandara.

  17. As a Christan, it hurts to see my brothers and sisters in Christ to argue about such things and to see the judgemental comments about one anothers beliefs. It is not up for us to decide who is right and who is wrong, for we corrupt and sinful therefore we cannot judge one another. We have not adorned the white robes and entered into paradise so we do not know of the Great Mysteries of which awaits us. Brothers and Sisters in Christ this is not what Christ intended for His people when He said educate one another about Faith, Love, and Humility all we have done is point fingers and found the negative of one another. For there is no true religion because man is corrupt and sinful.
Every Saint has a past and every sinner has a future

    1. As a Christian, we are required by the Lord to lead others to Christ, to speak of Jesus salvation. If you sit here, and do nothing, what sort of person does that make us? Sitting there, doing nothing, placating others, will lead them to an eternity of pain.

      Romans 10:9
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

      1. Yes but there is a difference of sitting there and doing actually nothing and sitting there doing nothing becides pointing blame at our brothers and sisters for things that they have no control over. Your bible verse is very true. Our brothers and sisters do believe that our Lord has risen from the dead and they have accepted Him as their Savior, so they are saved. When you say judgmental things over a different belief than what you are then you are not leading a Christ like life. Christ has never ending love for us, as should we have for one another even if we have a different religion. Love is not judgmental, chastising, demand or pointing blame. My Sister in Christ; Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

        May God Bless You. Amen.

      2. Your comment: Yes but there is a difference of sitting there and doing actually nothing and sitting there doing nothing becides pointing blame at our brothers and sisters for things that they have no control over. Your bible verse is very true.

My comment: That’s a pretty universal comment. I thought we were speaking of spreading the word of Christ. What things do other people have “no control over” that you speak of? The article is of people worshipping dead bones. And we can also extend that to muslims who believe in allah, hindus who praise statues etc.

Your comment: When you say judgmental things over a different belief than what you are then you are not leading a Christ like life.

My comment: When I tell a Muslim, that his “allah” will not save him from judgment as we must all stand before Jesus Christ, I speak it out of love, and not wanting him to suffer eternally. If that is judgment in your eyes, then so be it.

You speak of love one another, and I completely agree. The greatest love to have ever been shown to us, is the fact that Our King died for our sins, lives, and comes again.

      3. I apologize I saw I did not make the no control part clear. I was pertaining to the earlier comments above about the Catholic Church and how their statements sounded. Worshipers have no say of what goes on in the Vatican and how things are run in that area.

As a Orthodox Christan we venerate the bodies of our fellow man who have shown true faith and were murdered over their love of Our Lord and Savior. We also venerate icons. These icons give us a visual of the never ending love of Christ and our Patrion Saints. We do not worship them. The relics that we have are for the living, for us to congregate and to learn from these beautiful lives they have lead for our faith. We treat them with the utter most respect. We sing special hymns to them because their selfless sacrifice; to die over their belief. We bless these bodies with incense because they are Holy to us the smoke represents our prayers to be heard by them; for them to pray for us so we may see the Light of Christ. This does not mean we can lack in our fasting and prayer to our Lord because we ask our Saints to intercede for us on our behalf.

It is like a funeral. A funeral is not for the dead it is for the living. It is for the living to celebrate and rejoice for our loved one for being called Home to Our Father, for their eternal rest that they so deserve. We also mourn for their loss as a earthly being and we will no longer have them here with us. We place flowers on our loved ones grave to show respect and love, we have memorials to remember them, and we also have their pictures in our homes to remember them and the times we cherished so much with them. This is like our Holy Saints but in a more Spiritual manner. Our relics are their to remind us of what it means to live like Christ; just in a more open way. Death is beautiful. It has a morbid physical process but it is beautiful in a spiritual way especially when that individual has given mind, body, and soul to Our Lord and has proven that when you have as much faith as a mustard seed you can and will move mountains.

Now there are Saints who don’t necessarily quote unquote who shouldn’t be memorialized in that manner but still need to be acknowledged and treated with great respect and relevance.

I believe that if you say your Allah cannot save you or things of that nature you are only condemning somebody’s thought but not helping them to seek another understanding. It would be saying your God will not save you to you. I know I would not take that to kindly and not want to follow in that individuals religion because of that altercation and would only be detrimental to finding Salvation. You maybe speaking out of Love and Truth but others will not perceive this. Only as condemning.

We should seek to help them understand the Lord and Savior through love and gentleness. Never chastising or boasting for this is something that that individual holds dear to them and sometimes they don’t know any better because they have grown with this belief since a child. Spread the word of Christ with love and humility as He did and we too shall move mountains.

May God Bless You My Sister In Christ. Amen.

  18. Thank you for placing my son’s name, Erich H., at the base of the saint’s relics, nieces, nephews, godchild as well as my small business RF Design (and my own name, Karin S.) and their genogram, for healing, cleansing, exorcism, deliverance, blessing. All you Holy Men and Women, intercede for us! Thank you Blessed Saint for same for my cousin, Javier’s genogram/land.

  19. Does not seem to be the truth …….. just based on some persons thoughts ……. can someone tell me if it is really possible to preserve a body with some oil (there are no basis for this oil) …… i doubt it.
