Egyptian Air Force has requested the Obama Administration to buy 24 more F-16 aircraft. The deal worth USD 3.2 billion.

The Egyptian Air Force is already the second most powerful in the region and the fourth largest operator of F-16’s in the world. The Egyptian Government also want to purchase a variety of radar and weapons upgrades from American defense company Lockheed Martin.
Meanwhile, the regime of Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi announced on Monday that Libya is planning to buy as many as 20 new fighter jets from Russia. This order includs fifteen top-of-the-line Su-35 fighter/bombers, in a deal worth close to $1 billion.
Both countries cited «growing instability» and «external threats» in the Middle East and North Africa region as the reason for the purchases.
