Rick Warren makes peace with Islam: «Let’s partner»

«The two largest faiths on the planet must work together to combat stereotypes and solve global problems». Evangelical megachurch pastor Rick Warren Saturday addressed the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America.

In his speech, Warren urged Muslims and Christians to speak out against stereotyping of any group and to respect each other even while disagreeing. Addressing Muslims who «have been in America for many generations now» he urged them to help «the newcomers learn what it means to be American».

«Some problems are so big you have to team tackle them»
Warren said Muslims and Christians should be partners in working to end what he calls «the five global giants» of war, poverty, corruption, disease and illiteracy.

Warren, founder of Saddleback Community Church in Orange County, Calif., is the author of “The Purpose Driven Life,” which has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. A Southern Baptist, Warren has a record of upsetting fellow Christian conservatives by calling old-guard evangelical activists too partisan and narrowly focused. Ahead of his speech Saturday, bloggers who follow Warren had already denounced his appearance at the convention as cozying up to extremists.

My comment:

Rick Warren has become toothless, tender and sweet. He urged Muslims to become good Americans. What would Jesus of Nazareth have told this crowed of Muslims?

«Please become good citizens, honor the President and the Constitution?»

Rick Warren do no longer represent the Jewish Messiah, Jesus from Nazareth. Warren has walked astray into worldliness and fame. Surely all who wants to become the friend of this World, will be loved by this World.

John 15:19
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

  1. Hi Ivar!
I like to read your blogg, but I do not agree with you in everything. I belive that all of us sometimes say things that others don`t agree with or misunderstand. And if you get the information from media it is easy to get it wrong.
they often take things out of the context.
People that work for God and “succseed” in their ministry are often exposed. I belive that Rick Warren is exposed more than most people. Satan wants to crush people like pastor Rick. Satan does not have to fight so hard against “harmless” christians, people that never speak up for Jesus. I have listened and read a lot of Rick Warren and other pastors at Saddleback church and I also was lucky to visit Saddleback Church 2 years ago. I do not always agree with Rick Warren, but I am sure he is a server and a diciple of Jesus, but he is not perfect. We are not suppose to swallow all that Rick Warren or others say without “trying” the word on the Bible. The teaching in Saddleback Church is practical. They don`t only teach to love their neighbor, but to show it in practice. They don`t only teach the theory about the great commandment but also how to do it in practice. Ivar I do not agree with you here and I had to comment this statement of yours:

“Rick Warren do no longer represent the Jewish Messiah, Jesus from Nazareth. Warren has walked astray into worldliness and fame. Surely all who wants to become the friend of this World, will be loved by this World”

I know you have read Purpose driven life and probably also some on saddleback.com. Check also these links.

Bless you Ivar, your family and your ministry. I bless Israel and the jewish people.

    1. Dear Martin.

Shalom. And thanks for a good and reflective comment.

When we disagree, we still have to love one another. You are right. I have read both of Rick Warrens bestsellers, and I did learn a lot. Thats why its extra painful to see his views on Allah and Muslims. We can «love» them the whole way to Hell, or we can tell them the painful truth. They are lost in an evil and deceptive religion. To stand in their convention in the US and talk about..(..)..Our job, both you, me and Rick Warren, is to testify that Jesus is the Son of God, and that all Muslims needs to repent or perish. Thats love. That is what a true disciple of Jesus would have done. I will do so till my last breath.

      1. Dear Martin.

I took a look at your links, and also a fresh look at the statement of faith on the Saddleback Church. Some few things struck me: In our Church statement of faith, we use the Biblical term God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We also use the term God of Israel. Rick Warren is a pastor in a Church that is a member of the World Council of Churches (WCC). This so-called Church body is a notorious enemy of the state of Israel, and has, if not repented for, placed it self under the coming judgment when the true Messiah returns.

When recalling, and I might be wrong om this: I have never read Rick Warrens views on the prophetic Word and Israel. if you promote «Replacement theology», it does not matter for Jesus is you call your self a Roman Catholic, Lutheran or a Southern Baptist. Keep in mind Matthew 7:21-23. Many people shall take His name, and even drive out demons in the name of Jesus. But Jesus will still call them evil doers (NIV), and they will face a tragic end. Why? Because they did not do the will of God the Father. I guess that will is (also) to love and care for the promised restoration of Israel.

If you are a member of a Church that is member of the WCC. Get out!
