Julian Assange: Facebook is a Spy Machine

Julian Assange says social networking is being used to set up a totalitarian state.

Julian Assange, Founder of Wikileaks, says the Internet is the biggest spy machine the world has ever seen.

Assange spoke to students at Cambridge University. He said Facebook and social networking sites are used by governments to spy on people.

“There was actually a Facebook revolt in Cairo three or four years ago,” Assange stated.

It was very small… After it, Facebook was used to round up all the principal participants and they were then beaten, interrogated and incarcerated.

“So while the Internet has in some ways an ability to let us know to an unprecedented level what government is doing… it is also the greatest spying machine the world has ever seen,” he said.

Assange noted that the Internet has helped uncover tyrannical schemes but also complained this technology does not favor free speech or human rights.

“Rather it is a technology that can be used to set up a totalitarian spying regime, the likes of which we have never seen,” said  Assange.

My Comment:

The internet is amazing technology. It can be used for good and for evil. I believe Assange is right. The internet will continue to be used as a spying machine.

This will increase as we are led into world government. We will (and are now) being tracked every website we browse and every subject we ‘google.’

There is nothing private about the internet. On Facebook, your Identification is out for all the world to see and use for it’s purposes. We are told in scripture that in the end-times, there will be an increase of knowledge. I believe this is internet technology.

We have access to world news in an instant. This wonder will be used against the people when they struggle against giving up their nation’s sovereignty- when they are forced to be in allegiance with the new world order.

Daniel 12:4

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

  1. I fully agree about ‘Facebook’…I would not be a bit surprised….I was on there for about 2 weeks and had to get off…the first week I was thrilled to see so many people etc…but then the gnawing feeling that kept growing in me …I had to get off…and yes I repented for not obeying the Voice of The Lord for not going on there in the first place…now if anyone feels I am in error that it’s fine to be on there..that too is between you and The Lord…as for me..I know it also means “I” am thankful I gave up the joy of being around so many for the awesome peace and greater joy that I have around the ‘One’..(smile)..Jesus is awesome..Thank you Holy Spirit, Sir, for your faithfulness to me in all things.

  2. I also agree, I never was on Face book. Time is to precious and valuable to partake in the precocious, predicament of participating in that atmosphere of cause that is unhealthy for the soul, but if you are looking for a long lost love one and it opens the door of union with a family member then it’s a sure blessing of discovery in that respect. Subtle silence is wisdom in movement some of the most beautiful, dynamic and loving people walk in silence. The most important thing about life’s journey is being on the right road.

    Patty,

  3. Hi Patty,

I don’t think Facebook is “evil”, but it certainly can be used for that purpose, just like anything else.
The same sun that burns our skin also enables a harvest to grow. The rain that brings forth fruit can drown people in a flood.
It’s all how it is used. I do have a facebook account, but I do not put family photos, my address, phone number and obvious information. I am rarely on facebook, but it has been a great source of finding relatives and friends.
    Peace in Him.
    Sue
